The Seattle Seahawks made quite the splashy pick at No. 20 overall with Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Not only is it flashy, but it is a position of need. Seattle needed to bolster their wide receiver depth, and they picked a young man who will fit this role flawlessly.
The overall numbers are a bit deceiving, as Smith-Njigba missed practically all of 2022 with a hamstring injury. But his 2021 season was as sight to behold. In 13 games, Smith-Njigba had 95 receptions for 1,606 yards and nine touchdowns for the Buckeyes. That year he earned a 91.7 overall grade from Pro Football Focus.
Here are Smith-Njigba’s measurables:
- Height: 6’1″
- Weight: 196 lbs.
- Arm length: 30 1/2″
- Hand size: 9″
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Smith-Njigba this evening is the fact he was the first wide receiver selected of the draft. That is a fun fact the 12th Man is going to file away for a future round of bar trivia.
