2023 NFL Draft: Giants select WR Jordan Addison in first Daniel Jeremiah mock

The New York Giants are in the postseason for the first time since 2016 and are gearing up for their divisional-round matchup against the rival Philadelphia Eagles this Saturday night.

That doesn’t mean it’s too soon to be thinking about the future. NFL draft analysts are already publishing their early mocks. NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah recently posted his and this is what he sees the Giants doing in Round 1.

Jordan Addison, wide receiver, USC, junior

The Giants need to add more firepower on the outside, and Addison is the best route-runner in the 2023 draft. The former Trojan possesses excellent play speed, which will add another dimension to Brian Daboll’s offense.

The Giants do need more speed, talent, and depth at wide receiver. Addison, who is listed at 6-foot and 175 pounds, played his junior season at USC, catching passes from Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams.

But it was his sophomore season at Pitt that opens eyes. Addison caught 100 passes for 1,573 yards and 17 touchdowns from Kenny Pickett.

He is likely to be a first-round selection and may be long gone by the time the Giants select in the mid-20’s. They may not have Addison on their radar anyway. General manager Joe Schoen marches to the beat of his own drum and has a plan for this team. He may seek to address an impact player at another position.

Keep in mind, the Giants have Sterling Shepard (pending free agent) and Wan’Dale Robinson on injured reserve and the emergence of Isaiah Hodgins has fans penciling him in for the foreseeable future as well. But it would be great to have a vertical home run threat in that group.
