The Oklahoma City Thunder have traded up with the Dallas Mavericks for the No. 10 pick and selected Kentucky guard Cason Wallace in the first round of the 2023 NBA draft.
The Thunder also acquired forward Davis Bertans in the trade. In exchange, the Thunder sent the No. 12 pick and a $17 million traded player exception, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Bertans is owed $33 million over the next two seasons, with an early termination option for the 2024-25 season. In 45 games last season, he averaged 4.6 points on 43.1% shooting and 1.2 rebounds. He also shot 39% from 3 on 3.1 attempts.
Wallace played one season at Kentucky, where the 19-year-old averaged 11.7 points on 44.6% shooting, 4.3 assists and 3.7 rebounds. He also shot 34.6% from 3 on four attempts.
The Thunder adds another lottery talent to their young core of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, Josh Giddey and Ousmane Dieng.
