The Cincinnati Bengals started the first two days of the 2023 NFL draft focusing on the defensive side of the ball.
With the skill positions around Joe Burrow already elite on the opposite side of the ball, the Bengals reinforced the pass-rush, cornerback and safety.
The picks followed a simple theme — adding guys who can help in rotations and subpackages right away, while also boasting potential as long-term starters. With big extensions coming for Burrow and those around him, the defense needs to get younger and cheaper quickly over the next few years.
Here’s a quick look at the full 2023 Cincinnati Bengals draft class.
Round 1, No. 28: DE Myles Murphy, Clemson
The Bengals envision big things for Murphy right away as he joins the pass-rushing rotation.
Round 2, No. 60: CB DJ Turner, Michigan
Turner is a stunning athlete and fine-tuned, versatile player who could play a big role early.
Round 3, No. 95: S Jordan Battle, Alabama
The Bengals think Battle fell farther than he should have and have big plans for him right away, too.
Round 4, No. 131: WR Charlie Jones, Purdue
The Bengals added a wideout to the mix who can help right away and might be the long-term replacement for Tyler Boyd. His highlights from his 110-catch season are outstanding.
Round 5, No. 163: RB Chase Brown, Illinois
The Bengals found their complement to Joe Mixon — at worst — with Brown, a human highlight reel who ran for more than 1,600 yards last season.
Round 6, No. 206: WR Andrei Iosivas, Princeton
The Bengals went with a world-class athlete to fill out the depth chart with guys capable of getting separation.
Round 6, No. 217: P Brad Robbins, Michigan
The Bengals got their potential punter of the future with Robbins, a hangtime specialist.
