The new Z06 packs a 5.5-liter flat-plane crankshaft V8 that produces 670 horsepower (500 kilowatts) and 460 pound-feet (623 Newton-meters) of torque. The powertrain can send the car to 60 mph (96 kph) in just 2.6 seconds.
Chevrolet also revealed pricing for some of the Z06’s available options. The Z07 Performance Package will cost an extra $8,995. The package includes Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, Michelin Pilot Cup 2R ZP tires, and the FE7 suspension. The package requires the Carbon Aero Package with either the Visible or the Carbon Flash Painted components.
The Visible Carbon Fiber option costs $10,495, while the painted carbon requires an extra $8,495. The carbon fiber components include the front splitter, rockers, dive planes, and spoiler. Carbon Fiber wheels are also available with the Z07 package, with the Visible Carbon Fiber option costing $11,995. The painted carbon wheels are $2,000 cheaper at $9,995. According to Chevrolet, the wheels deliver a 41-pound (18.6-kilogram) reduction in unsparing mass.
Chevrolet says the new Z06 will compete with the Audi R8, Porsche 911 GT3, Lamborghini Huracan Evo, and Ferrari F8 Tributo, which are all more expensive than the Corvette. The R8 is $40,000 more expensive, while the McLaren 720S is nearly three times as expensive. We can’t wait to see how the new Z06 compared to the competition.
