2022 World Cup odds: Brazil favourites with England cut after kind group stage draw

England have been cut into second-favourites to win the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after being handed what looks a favourable group in Friday’s draw.

Gareth Southgate’s side have been drawn in Group B alongside Iran and USA, with the group lineup to be completed by the winner of the final remaining European playoff - either Wales, Scotland or Ukraine.

The Betfair Exchange rated England a 15/2 chance to lift the trophy ahead of the draw but the Three Lions have now been cut into 6/1, with only favourites Brazil ahead of them in the market.

England’s hopes have also been boosted by what looks a relatively smooth path to the quarter-finals. Should they qualify for the knockout stage they will face a team from Group A - the Netherlands, Qatar, Senegal and Ecuador - in the last-16.

Defending champions France are rated a 13/2 chance, while Spain, who reached the semi-finals at Euro 2020, are 9/1 fourth-favourites despite having been drawn in a tough group alongside Germany.
