We’ve officially passed the one-week mark of the tampering period and the Jacksonville Jaguars were big spenders in the process. However, that hasn’t stopped them from looking into the second wave of free agency where contributors still can be found, especially for a team that only won three games in 2021.

On Monday they met with linebacker Rashaan Evans, and on Tuesday, they will meet with another player on the defensive side in EDGE Arden Key, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Key, 25, was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Louisiana State University. However, he was waived by them last April and joined the San Francisco 49ers later.
He ended up making the 49ers’ 53-man roster and played in every game while accumulating 22 combined tackles, 6.5 sacks, five tackles for loss, and 17 quarterback hits. And while he was a rotational player, Pro Football Focus had him down for a 79.4 pass-rush grade and he was just shy of a 70 overall grade with a 69.5.
The Jags could use some help in terms of its pass-rush rotation in addition to Josh Allen and Dawuane Smoot as K’Lavon Chaisson has struggled mightily to find his footing, though he’s just entering his third season. Still, raising the competition level for Chaisson and finding a better No. 3 pass-rusher isn’t a bad idea if the Jags can do it for the right price.
If the Jags want Key it appears they have some competition, though. As pointed out by Garafolo, Key also met with the Detroit Lions earlier this week and is doing a tour after setting up some pre-planned visits.
