The 2022/23 Premier League season is another step closer after the fixtures were announced. Leeds United will start and finish the campaign at Elland Road with Wolves and Tottenham making the trips at the start of August and end of May respectively.
The fixture release date is always a key date on the footballing calendar but now it has passed, attention quickly turns to the other stand-out dates. The introduction of the winter World Cup in Qatar makes it an unusual season with plenty of the usual dates being moved completely.
Here are all the dates you need for your diary heading into the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

When does the Premier League season start and finish?
The Premier League gets back underway on Friday, August 5 as Crystal Palace host Arsenal at Selhurst Park in the curtain raiser. Leeds kick off their campaign a day later as Wolves visit Elland Road at 3pm on Saturday, August 6.
37 games later, the Premier League season concludes on Sunday, May 23 with all 20 Premier League teams playing at 4pm. Leeds are at home once again for that one as Tottenham make the trip to West Yorkshire on the final day.
When does the summer transfer window close?
The summer transfer window is already open and has been since Friday, June 10. It will then close for all clubs in each of the five major European leagues at 11pm on Thursday, September 1.
When are the international breaks?
There is just one more international break prior to the World Cup which, for the first time, is being held in the winter. The first international break will take place between Monday, September 19 and Friday, September 13 as national sides play their final two Nations League games.
Leeds’ final game before that break takes them across the Pennines to face Manchester United and they return afterwards to the visit of Aston Villa to Elland Road.
What date does the 2022 World Cup start and finish?
As mentioned, this season will be the first with a mid-season World Cup after it was decided that it would be too hot to play the tournament in Qatar during the summer. The final round of Premier League fixtures beforehand take place on the weekend of November 12, where Leeds are due to travel to Tottenham.
The first game of the World Cup, between Senegal and the Netherlands, takes place on Monday, November 21. The tournament will then conclude almost a month later with the final being a played a week before Christmas Day on Sunday, December 18.
The Premier League action returns swiftly after the World Cup with the Boxing Day (December 26) round of fixtures being the first ones back. The round of fixtures that would usually fall between Christmas and New Year has been scrapped for the season because of the workload facing the players.
When does the January transfer window open and close?
As always, the January transfer window will open on Sunday, January 1 for any clubs hoping to do mid-season business. It will then close on Tuesday, January 31 at 11pm.
What are the Carabao Cup and FA Cup dates?
While the Premier League season and the World Cup distraction will dominate much of the agenda, supporters will still hold a big interest in the two major cup competitions. As it does every season, the Carabao Cup will start first and here are the dates (Premier League clubs enter in Round Two):
