2019 Suzuki Ertiga: Thai prices and specs

Second-gen seven-seat MPV receives better tech to lower its CO2 output in Thailand for unchanged prices.

Suzuki has launched the all-new Ertiga, a seven-seat MPV that’s made in Indonesia and shipped to Thailand via regional trade perks.

Now in its second generation, the Ertiga receives a new engine and platform, as well as redesigned exterior and interior.

The 92hp 1.4-litre petrol motor (K14B) has been superseded with 105hp 1.5-litre variation (K15B), although the four-speed automatic transmission remains the same.

But coupled with the so-called Heartect lightweight platform that also underpins today’s Swift and a more aero-friendly body, the Ertiga is now capable of producing less than 150g/km of CO2 to enjoy a 5% reduction in excise tax.

However, its prices haven’t fallen because Suzuki Automobiles Thailand has decided to give the Ertiga more features. Thus, the GL and GX cost the same at 655,000 and 695,000 baht respectively.

The Ertiga’s main competitors include the 117hp Honda Mobilio and 102hp Toyota Avanza, both also using 1.5-litre petrol engines. The price ranges of both seven-seaters are 699,000-763,000 baht and 640,000-729,000 baht accordingly.

The Mitsubishi Xpander also has seven seats and 105hp 1.5-litre motor but is slightly different with a higher body. It costs between 779,000-849,000 baht.
