The Raiders selected Clemson edge rusher Clelin Ferrell with the No. 4 selection of the 2019 NFL draft.
The first surprise of the night occurred with the pick of Ferrell, who was touted as a late first rounder-early second round selection.
Ferrell should be a perfect fit in Oakland defensive coordinator Paul Guenther’s 4-3 defense where he can use his combination of power, hand usage and recognition skills to get after the quarterback and defend the run.
Ferrell is coming off a season where he was named the winner of the Ted Hendricks Award, given to the nation’s top defensive end. He was also named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year.
