Toyota Camry rival gets a new look, more driving aids and carried-over petrol engines.
After being on the market since 2013, Nissan has given the Teana an update in a bid to keep it fresh against the just-launched, all-new Toyota Camry.
Key visual changes in Nissan’s mid-size saloon, which is now five years in its current generation, include a more pronounced V-motif front grille and boomerang-style head lights.
The Thai Nissan office has also added more features into selected models like Bose sound system, sunroof and remote engine start so that the user can cool the cabin before entering the car.
Driving aids include all-round view monitor, moving object detection and lane departure and blind spot warning.
The two petrol engines in the pre-facelift model have been carried over unchanged with both getting the usual CVT automatic transmission. They include the 136hp 2.0-litre MR20DE and 173hp 2.5-litre QR25DE motors.
While the range-topping 2.5 XV Navi costs the same at 1.674 million baht, the three grades for the 2.0 see marginal increases in price.
The XE now retails for 1.399 million baht (up by 60,000 baht), while the 1.426 million baht XL and 1.476 million baht XL Navi are 27,000 baht dearer than ever.
This makes the aging Honda Accord slightly cheaper in price than the Teana. The Accord 2.0 ranges between 1.385-1.445 million baht, while the 2.4 model goes for 1.635 million baht.
The Teana still remains the only car of the Japanese trio to not come with a hybrid option. Honda will counter this battle early next year with the all-new Accord which will include both pure petrol and hybrid options.
