200 not out for Vale of Leven stalwart Lee McGeachy

Vale Juniors boss Brian Brown hopes that Lee McGeachy has another 200 appearances for the club in him.

The attacker played his 200th game for the Alexandria side in last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Petershill.

And gaffer Brown hailed McGeachy’s consistency and dedication during his 10 seasons in the Vale’s first team.

He said: “Lee was in my U21s team when I first went in at the Vale, and that’s him now hit 200 games for the first team. It’s great.

“If you’re one of the younger guys then you should be looking at the likes of Lee McGeachy, Adam Monaghan, David McNaught.

“The Vale is a good place to be, you wouldn’t have the amount of players we have staying on for that amount of time if it wasn’t.

“Lee has never let me down in all the time I’ve been there. He always gives me 100 percent.

“He’s one of these guys with work commitments but he always seems to be able to change his shifts and make himself available.”

And with 49 goals and 60 assists in his time at Millburn so far, Brown admits McGeachy is vital to Vale’s attacking style of play. He said: “Sometimes you take his creativity for granted, and it’s the games he doesn’t play in that you come away from thinking we’ve not made a chance.

“Lee’s a fantastic wee player. He scores plenty, but his creativity is vital for us.

“We’re a wee bit lost when he’s not there, so hopefully he has another 200 in him. He really makes us tick.”
