2 stats show Titans QB Will Levis’ completion rate should’ve been higher

Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis had no shortage of things to overcome during his first season, which made the flashes he did show that much more impressive.

On top of a terrible offensive line, Levis didn’t get much help from his group of pass-catchers, which lacked talent and overall consistency outside of DeAndre Hopkins.

Levis ended up completing 58.4% of his passes last season, which isn’t terrible for a rookie quarterback, but you’d certainly like to see that number come up.

An offer for Titans fans

But two stats show Levis wasn’t totally responsible for that.

According to Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis, the Titans were tied for the second-highest rate of incompletions due to receiver error, which is based on dropped passes, receivers falling down, receivers stopping a route, etc.

The Titans and Los Angeles Rams were both at 21%, and the only team with a higher rate was the Jacksonville Jaguars at 22%.

Titans receivers dropped a total of 24 passes in 2023, tied for the 11th-fewest in the NFL.

Adding to the aforementioned stat, the Kentucky product had the ninth-lowest rate of incompletions due to inaccurate passes, coming in at 27.4%.

The Titans fortified their receiving corps. in a big way this offseason, although one of the key additions, Calvin Ridley, was on that Jaguars team and was accused of running the wrong route on several occasions.

Titans offensive coordinator Nick Holz was the Jags’ passing-game coordinator, as well. Hopefully the issues in Jacksonville aren’t contagious.
