The Kansas City Sports Commission has announced the 2023 honorees for the Kansas City Sports Awards and the Kansas City Chiefs are set to be well-represented.
The 50th annual Kansas City Sports Awards banquet and ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 8 at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown. There, the Kansas City Sports Commission will honor a new crop of talented individuals for their commitment and achievement in sports, including two members of the Super Bowl-winning team.
Chiefs DT Chris Jones will earn the Polsinelli Sportsman of the Year Award, while Chiefs GM Brett Veach will earn the McCownGordon Construction Executive of the Year Award.

This is the second time that Veach has received Executive of the Year honors at the KC Sports Awards. He last won it following the team’s Super Bowl LIV win in the 2019-20 NFL season.
As for Chris Jones, this is his first time receiving Sportsman of the Year honors. He joins Patrick Mahomes, Tyrann Mathieu and Travis Kelce as recent Sportsman of the Year winners on the team.

Others set to be honored include K-State Men’s Basketball head coach Jerome Tang, KC Current midfielder Lo’eau LaBonta, late soccer journalist Grant Wahl and late sports architect Ron Labinski.
