2 Chiefs Super Bowl fan videos from back-to-back years perfectly illustrate the Taylor Swift effect

This NFL season saw a new influx of fans from across the globe thanks to the introduction of pop icon Taylor Swift to the NFL. Swift has been dating Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce since summer of 2023, making her a mainstay at Chiefs games throughout the season (when her mega popular Eras Tour would allow).

As a result, many Swifties — including a large number of women and girls — started tuning in for football on Sundays. This was reflected in the monster viewing ratings for the 2024 Super Bowl, a record 123.4 million viewers across all platforms, which joined the 1969 moon landing as the most watched television event ever.

Nothing better illustrates the effect Taylor Swift had on football this season than two Super Bowl videos from Chiefs fan @badson21 on TikTok. For the 2023 game against the Philadelphia Eagles, it was just the two men.

It’s a whole family affair as several girls in Taylor Swift Eras Tour tee-shirts and Travis Kelce jerseys join the fun. You love to see the game expand this way.
