There were 24 more coronavirus-related deaths and 2,836 new cases confirmed on Thursday, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported on Friday.
Thursday’s figures did not include 4,767 positive results from antigen tests over the past 24 hours. This would raise the total to 7,603.
This compared with the 23 coronavirus-related fatalities and 3,185 new cases reported on the previous day.
As of midnight Thursday, a total of 24,556 people were receiving Covid-19 treatment (down from 25,262 the previous day), including 12,267 in hospitals (down from 12,840). Among the remainder 1,959 were in field hospitals/hospitel facilities (down from 2,006) and 10,118 in home/community isolation (down from 10,222).
Of those in hospital, 673 were seriously ill with lung inflammation (down from 678) and 330 dependent on ventilators (down from 331).
The 24-hour period also saw 3,518 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering.
According to the CCSA, the 24 people who died were aged from eight to 90 years.
Bangkok reported no more deaths, but there were two in the adjacent provinces of Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani.
Other central plains provinces further from the capital reported five deaths - two in Trat and one each in Chachoengsao, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Saraburi.
The North reported three coronavirus-related deaths - in Phrae, Kamphaeng Phet and Phayao.
The Northeast reported 14 - four in Maha Sarakham, three in Roi Et, two each in Nakhon Phanom, Ubon Ratchathani and Yasothon and one in Si Sa Ket.
The South had no new deaths.
Among 2,836 new cases over the past 24 hours, there were 2,835 in the general population and one imported case.
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 4,479,888 Covid-19 cases, including 2,256,453 this year, with 4,425,046 complete recoveries to date.
The accumulated death toll stood at 30,286 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 8,588 so far this year.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 562,194 in 24 hours to 538.71 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 1,417 to 6.33 million.
The United States had the most cases at 87.11 million, up 80,993, and the most deaths at 1.03 million, up 195.
