There were 37 more Covid-19 fatalities and 2,480 new cases admitted to hospitals on Thursday, the Ministry of Public Health reported on Friday.
This compared with 32 coronavirus-related fatalities and 1,902 cases admitted to hospitals on Wednesday, as reported on Thursday.
As of midnight Thursday, a total of 24,550 people were receiving Covid-19 treatment (up from 23,960 the previous day), including 12,339 in hospitals (up from 12,051). Of the remainder, 274 were in field hospitals/hospitel facilities (down from 295) and 11,869 in home/community isolation (up from 11,583).
Of those in hospitals, 901 were seriously ill patients with lung inflammation (down from 904) and 447 dependent on ventilators (up from 445).
The 24-hour period also saw 1,853 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering.
Of the 2,480 new cases admitted to hospitals over the 24 hours, there were 2,469 cases in the general population and 11 among prison inmates.
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 4,586,550 Covid-19 cases, including 2,363,115 this year, with 4,530,673 complete recoveries to date.
The accumulated death toll stood at 31,327 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 9,629 so far this year.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 822,466 in 24 hours to 579.44 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 1,792 to 6.41 million.
The United States had the most cases at 92.92 million, up 93,216, and the most deaths at 1.05 million, up 260.
