The country registered 2,250 more Covid-19 cases and 35 new fatalities during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry announced on Sunday morning.
This compared with 2,381 new cases and 35 coronavirus-related fatalities reported on Saturday morning.
There were 2,249 local cases and one imported case.
As of Saturday, a total of 21,526 people were receiving Covid-19 treatment, including 11,462 in hospitals, 258 in hospitel facilities and 9,756 in home or community isolation, according to the daily update posted by the Department of Disease Control.
Of those in hospital, 952 were seriously ill patients with lung inflammation - with 489 dependent on ventilators.
The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration said on Sunday afternoon that the 35 people who died were aged from 18 to 97 with the average age of 79. One was from a Swedish national and the rest were Thais.
Bangkok logged 11 new deaths, while there were five in adjacent provinces — two each in Pathum Thani and Nonthaburi and one in Samut Prakan.
Other central plains provinces further from the capital had 11 deaths — three in Chon Buri, two each in Nakhon Sawan and Singburi, and one each in Rayong, Nakhon Nayok, Ayutthaya and Saraburi.
The North reported four deaths — three in Lamphun and one in Phrae.
The Northeast saw one new fatality in Khon Kaen, while the South had three deaths — two in Krabi and one in Surat Thani.
Vaccinations continued to progress, with 141.91 million doses administered as of Saturday. The government said 82.2% of the population has now received at least one dose of the vaccine, 77.0% at least two shots and 44.8% at least one booster shot.
On Saturday alone, 98,501 vaccine doses were administered — 9,373 as a first shot, 23,507 as a second shot and 65,621 as a booster shot.
On Saturday, 1,939 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 4,605,609 Covid-19 cases, including 2,382,174 cases this year, with 4,552,487 complete recoveries to date.
The accumulated death toll stood at 31,596 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 9,898 so far this year.
The highest number of Covid-related fatalities in a 24-hour period was 312 recorded on Aug 13, 2021. The highest number of cases was 28,379 on April 1, 2022.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 638,967 in 24 hours to 588.86 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 1,274 to 6.43 million.
