£195m Euromillions rumour, Martin Lewis message and Manchester airport warning

These are the latest ECHO headlines this afternoon.

Merseyside town convinced by £195m Euromillions ticket rumour

People living in one Merseyside town are convinced that the £195m Euromillions ticket was sold there last week.

Last week saw one lucky player from the UK pocket the huge cash prize, with a number of people living in Formby convinced that the winning ticket was sold in their town. The ECHO visited a number of shops in Formby, with almost every shop worker hearing the rumour that the ticket was handed over the counter somewhere in the daytripper hotspot.

The Euromillions draw that saw almost £200m handed out took place last Tuesday, during a heatwave that saw thousands flock to the coast, with shopworkers throughout the town adamant they sold the winning ticket. One worker from Bargain Booze told the ECHO: "I'm sure I sold [the winning ticket]. I remember serving one lad, I looked at the ticket and the numbers just looked right.

"Our boss is on holiday and we haven't heard anything from Camelot about whether we were the ones to sell it."

The owner of one newsagent in the town told the ECHO that she heard the rumours and is waiting to see whether it was her shop that sold the golden ticket. She said: "If you're the one that sells it I'm sure they come down with a banner and make an event of it. I've not heard anything but people have been saying it was sold in Formby. I don't know if the person is actually from Formby though."

Martin Lewis has issued advice to customers looking to switch broadband providers.

The finance guru provided the tip on today's edition of This Morning. Wednesday's edition of ITV's flagship daytime programme was hosted by Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle.

The broadcasters read out out messages from people seeking money saving advice from Martin. A viewer named Pauline was looking to switch broadband providers from Virgin Media to Vodafone.

However, she was concerned as Virgin informed her it would close down her email accounts after the move. Martin explained the service provider is entitled to do this and will close the account 90 days after the contract ends

The finance guru warned customers should never link their email up to your service provider. He added: "That's why you want a Gmail, Yahoo mail or buy your own domain address.

"You're always going to find it difficult to move so here is my tip. Decide today that you're going to set up, let's say a Gmail account."

Manchester Airport travel warning to people with flights booked

Manchester Airport bosses have issued a fresh warning to passengers due to depart this week.

It comes after months of people being told to arrive at the airport earlier amid travel chaos, queues and delays. Now, holidaymakers are being warned as rail strikes could also impact their journeys this week.

Thousands of rail workers have today (Wednesday) walked out on strike, crippling services across the country. Disputes in the bitter row over jobs, pay, pensions and conditions are worsening.

Only around one in five trains will run on Wednesday, on around half the network, with some areas having no trains all day. Manchester Airport bosses also fear there will be a knock-on effect into Thursday (July 28).

In a tweet from the airport's official account, passengers were told: "Due to industrial strike action, there will be limited rail services on Wednesday, July 27, 2022. The following services to/from Manchester Airport are expected to run however services are subject to change: Northern: Liverpool Lime Street to/from Alderley Edge, calling at Manchester Airport, TPE: Preston to/from Manchester Airport.
