Here in Edinburgh, the new millennium got off to a flying start - and we’ve got the snaps to prove it.
The biggest celebs of the time made trips to the capital, the Fringe Festival was only growing, and Edinburgh was entering a brand new era as a city.
Back at the beginning of the 00s, we had a lot going for us in Edinburgh, and as the old saying goes - you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone.

Revellers in the capital were heading to Tequila Joes, Po Na Na, and Electric Circus - at a time that could be branded as Edinburgh’s clubbing heyday. Our live music venues were also at a peak, with several popular as well as up and coming acts heading to the city.
The Scottish Parliament building was still in construction, while down as Western Harbour the glittering stars of the time gathered for the MTV Video Music Awards - hosted by Christina Aguilera.
In a 6,000 person capacity big top arena constructed specifically for the event, celebrities like Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Madonna, and Pink got together to honour the music of 2003.
