AGRA: As many as 184 people were diagnosed with malaria at health checkup camps organised last month across Kasganj district. However, so far, the health department has not made any arrangement for anti-larvae spraying to prevent the vector-borne disease from spreading.
According to health department records, the process of appointing a “spray man” on contract is still pending. Last year, at least 138 people suffering from malaria and dengue had died in Kasganj district. Health department officials said the anti-larvae spraying would be initiated next week. The camps were organized at all the primary and community health centres from April 18 to 23. Total of 5,622 people underwent a checkup and 184 of them had malaria.
District malaria officer Rajkumar Saraswat said, “Medicines for treating malaria have been made available at all health centres. Soon, a spray man will be hired.” TNN
