There were 27 more Covid-19 fatalities and 18,066 new cases recorded during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry announced on Friday morning.
This compared with the 22 coronavirus-related fatalities and 17,349 new cases reported on Thursday morning.
The 27 fatalities were between the ages of 10 and 90 years.
Bangkok had eight new deaths and there was one more fatality in the adjacent province of Pathum Thani.
Other central plain provinces further from the capital recorded seven deaths – in Prachin Buri (2), Suphan Buri (2), Kanchanaburi (1), Chon Buri (1) and Rayong (1).
The Northeast had two more - in Si Sa Ket and Surin.
The South reported four more deaths - in Chumphon, Yala, Satun and Surat Thani.
The North saw five fatalities - in Phetchabun, Phrae, Kamphaeng Phet, Nakhon Sawan and Lampang.
There were 17,815 new cases in the general population, 83 among prison inmates and 168 imported cases.
Of the local Covid-19 infections, 17,707 were confirmed at hospitals and 108 via mass testing.
Bangkok still had the most new cases at 3,458, followed by 957 in Samut Prakan, 811 in Chon Buri, 750 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, 596 in Nonthaburi, 534 in Phuket, 484 in Nakhon Pathom, 479 in Nakhon Ratchasima, 478 in Samut Sakhon and 397 in Pathum Thani.
The 168 imported cases included 42 from Russia, 21 from Cambodia, 10 from Germany, nine from Singapore and six each from Denmark and Israel.
On Thursday 149,589 people received Covid-19 treatment at hospitals (up from 144,061 the previous day), including 755 seriously ill patients with lung inflammation (up from 728) and 182 dependent on ventilators (up from 163).
The 24-hour period also saw 12,511 Covid-19 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 2,674,477 Covid-19 cases, including 451,042 cases this year, with 2,502,323 complete recoveries to date.
The death toll stood at 22,565 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 867 so far this year.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 2.02 million in 24 hours to 420.16 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 11,212 to 5.88 million.
The United States had the most cases at 79.91 million, up 103,377, and the most deaths at 955,497, up 2,184.
