A 16-year-old "defied the odds" by taking home gold at World Kickboxing Association World Championship.
Luis Wright, from Southport, started practicing Muay Thai when he was just 12. He was first taken to a training session by his nan Angela and he "fell in love with the sport".
Four years on through dedication, blood, sweat, and tears Luis has just become a three-time gold medallist beating out competition from 21 countries. However, Angela said she had "no idea" he would reach the heights he has now and she "can't believe" how far he has come.

Speaking to the ECHO she said: "I did not think he would enjoy it as much as he does and all he wants to be is a fighter. We are just so proud of him.
"He has a big heart and nothing phases him, he trains three hours a day. He is a quiet kid and you probably would not think he was a fighter he is so polite."
Luis qualified for the unified world championships but a hurricane destroyed the venue in Carrera Italy and instead he was invited to the WKA held in Prestatyn last week. Angela said the former Meols Cop student had to "fight for his life" and at points, it was "terrifying" to watch.
She said: "It is nerve-racking to see your grandson go into a ring and fight for his life. You see elbows and knees fly around and it can be terrifying. He fought an American who seemed to be a head taller than him but when the bell rang Luis did us all proud."
"He wants to head to the Olympics, that is what he wants to do. He is not in this for the money, he loves to fight and we will support him all the way."
