There were 124 more Covid-19 fatalities and 16,994 new confirmed cases during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Monday.
Monday’s figures did not include 8,276 positive results from antigen tests on Sunday. This would raise the total to 25,270.
The new cases compared with the 128 coronavirus-related fatalities and 17,775 new cases reported on Sunday morning.
As of Sunday, a total of 205,514 people were receiving Covid-19 treatment, including 53,766 in hospitals. The remainder included 47,864 in field hospitals/hospitel facilities and 103,218 in home/community isolation.
Of those in hospital, 2,123 were seriously ill patients with lung inflammation and 939 dependent on ventilators.
Of the seriously ill patients, Bangkok had the most cases at 211, followed by 94 in Nakhon Ratchasima, 91 in Samut Prakan, 83 in Chon Buri and 67 in Kanchanaburi, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported.
The 24-hour period also saw 25,910 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering.
According to the CCSA, the 124 people who died were aged from five months to 103 years.
Bangkok logged 22 more deaths and there were 12 in adjacent provinces - six in Pathum Thani, four in Samut Prakan and one each in Samut Sakhon and Nakhon Pathom.
Other central plains provinces further from the capital had 37 deaths - nine in Chon Buri, five in Nakhon Sawan, four in Rayong, three in Prachuap Khiri Khan, two each in Lop Buri, Saraburi, Nakhon Nayok and Sa Kaeo and one each in Uthai Thani, Sing Buri, Samut Songkhram, Trat, Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi.
The North reported 10 deaths - two each in Sukhothai, Chiang Mai, Phichit and Kamphaeng Phet and one each in Phitsanulok and Uttaradit.
The Northeast saw 36 more fatalities - eight in Udon Thani, six in Loei, five each in Ubon Ratchathani and Kalasin, two each in Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Nong Khai and Nakhon Phanom and one each in Nong Bua Lam Phu, Khnon Kaen, Roi Et and Surin.
The South had seven deaths - two in Nakhon Si Thammarat and one each in Phuket, Songkhla, Trang, Narathiwat and Satun.
There were 16,896 new cases in the general population, 22 among prison inmates and 76 imported ones.
Of the new infections in the general populace, 16,847 were confirmed at hospitals and 49 via mass testing.
Bangkok continued to report the most daily cases at 2,943, followed by 704 in Chon Buri, 599 in Nonthaburi, 547 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, 522 in Samut Prakan, 483 in Khon Kaen, 469 in Buri Ram, 455 in Roi Et, 384 in Samut Sakhon and 341 in Nakhon Pathom.
The 76 imported cases came from 21 countries. They included 13 from Cambodia, 10 from Australia, nine from India and seven each from Singapore and the United Kingdom.
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 4,046,953 Covid-19 cases, including 1,823,518 this year, with 3,814,433 complete recoveries to date.
The accumulated death toll stood at 27,006 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 5,308 so far this year.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 452,603 in 24 hours to 504.75 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 1,184 to 6.22 million.
Over the past seven days, South Korea had the most cases of 972,082, followed by France with 823,649 cases, Germany with 759,046 and Italy with 419,703 cases.
