A teenage boy has been charged with terrorism after being arrested by the Met’s terror police at a Hertfordshire home.

He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday and has been remanded until his next appearance at the same court on Monday March 21.

The teen was charged on Sunday, 13 March with two offences under Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

Police were handed extra time to question the 15-year-old boy after he was arrested and detained under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act on March 7 at a property in St Albans.

The legislation makes it illegal to distribute, circulate, lend or sell material that could be used to insight, commission or allow someone to prepare for an act of terror.

Scotland Yard said enquiries are ongoing.
