Movember is an annual event, run by The Movember Foundation, that involves growing a mustache during the month of November to raise awareness for men’s health issues.
In honor of the upcoming month, we’ve rounded up 15 of the best celebrity moustaches - that just might inspire you to don one yourself.
Post Malone
Back in 2018, the internet went crazy after someone pointed out that the rapper’s moustache looks like “two dogs kissing.” The animal-moustache debate was reignited in June 2021 after a Reddit user decided the ‘stache actually looks like “two capybaras kissing.” Despite the comments, Post has no plans to shave anytime soon.
Lionel Richie
The “All Night Long” singer has kept his signature pyramid ‘stache since the ‘70s. Richie told Rolling Stone his secret: “I not only cut, but I tweeze...the tweeze is the key” and went onto explain that, “On the areas close to where you want to get an edge, if you try to cut it, guaranteed, depending on your attention span, you will mess up your mustache by cutting it too short.”
Danny Trejo
Trejo is known for his handlebar moustache combo and long hair combo, which he usually throws back into a sleek low ponytail. The actor is also a proponent of November and makes an annual post encouraging others to participate by growing out a ‘stache just like his.

Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy
The Anchorman character’s ‘stache may be part of the costume, but Will Ferrell insists that it’s 100% real. Ferrell confirmed this in a 2013 NPR interview, saying that the ‘stache gets in the way of eating, and that he has a lot of respect for those who lived in the times where facial hair was “mandatory”.
Super Mario
The iconic Nintendo character sports a big, fluffy ‘stache that points upwards. Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto told CNN that, when initially creating the pixel plumber, a moustache was added to make him look more human-like. “We had to draw Mario as a small character at the time,” Miyamoto explained. “We gave him a moustache so that we didn’t need to draw a mouth. It is difficult to show facial expressions with small characters.”
Sascha Baron Cohen as Borat
Cohen’s notorious character dons a almost ridiculously large moustache that completely covers his upper lip. In April 2021, fans speculated whether or not Borat’s appearance was inspired by wife Isla Fischer’s father after the actress shared a photo of him looking eerily similar to the character.
David Harbour
While the big Tom Selleck-esque ‘stache is part of Chief Hopper’s signature look, Harbour commented that he hated the mustache while filming Season Three of Stranger Things. “I liked it for a couple months,” he explained. “And then I was like, ‘Holy shit! All I want to do is shave this thing off my face, but I have another three months of a TV show to do.” Unfortunately for Harbour, the ‘stache will be making a comeback for Season 4.
Nick Offerman
Offerman told The Believer that Ron Swanson’s signature ‘stache was a combined effort: five to six weeks to full grow out and maintenance by makeup artist Autumn Butler. The mustache became so popular that Offerman made headlines when shaving it off in 2015 to promote Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl.
Sam Elliott
Elliott’s iconic walrus-style moustache has spawned many ‘how-to’ articles for those desperate to achieve the actor’s signature look. Back in March, the actor revealed back that he once shaved off the ‘stache to impress now-wife Katherine Ross. The pair has been married since 1984, and the ‘stache has remained.
Freddie Mercury
Mercury’s ‘stache, known as the ‘chevron’ style, was part of the singer’s ever-changing image. In one concert recording, Mercury can be heard asking the audience if they like it: “Do you girls like this moustache? Any boys like the moustache? A lot of people are hating it – I don’t give a fuck, actually… it’s my moustache and I’m gonna keep it!”
Hulk Hogan
The former wrestler is known for his bright white handlebar moustache that droops every so slightly off his jaw. According to ESPN, the proper name for the ‘stache is the “Fu Manchu”, named for the supervillain who starred in a number of films beginning in the 1920s. Hogan has teased fans throughout the years by making on and off claims to shave his head and face, but has yet to go through with it.
Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso
The ‘stache is what fully transforms Sudeikis into earnest soccer coach Ted Lasso, and the actor agrees. “It feels essential to me. It really does,” he told Collider. “I mean, it certainly did in the commercial because the commercial look we were going for was Mike Ditka.” Sudeikis also humorously paid his daughter Daisy, 5, to shave off the ‘stache after season 3 of Ted Lasso finished filming.
Steve Harvey
The daytime TV host’s ‘stache is so beloved by viewers that Harvey decided to share a video of his maintenance routine to Instagram. In the video, Harvey can be seen detailing his moustache with a beard pen and wireless electric shaver while dancing to Elton John’s “Benny and the Jets”.
Burt Reynolds
The late icon revealed in a interview that he decided to grow his iconic ‘stache after an unfortunate meeting with his then-hero, Marlon Brando. When Reynolds went over and introduced himself, Brando sighed and seemed annoyed. “I don’t know what all that meant,” said Reynolds with a smirk. “But I’m pretty sure it meant he had no respect for me. I think that’s probably when I grew the mustache that night.”
John Waters
The director remembers deciding to sport a pencil thin moustache in 1970, although he doesn’t remember why. The “Pope of Trash” told The Guardian that the upkeep is simple: “I trim my moustache, then fill it in with Maybelline Velvet Black eyeliner pencil. That’s why they call it a pencil moustache”
