And Just Like That’s shock plot twist (RIP Mr Big) not only pushed viewers to tears but also forced Peloton’s shares to plummet more than 16 per cent.
But now, the brand has flipped the script on its head with a humorous response that resurrects Big.
And not only is he alive, but he’s also run away with his favourite Peloton instructor.
Featuring actor Chris Noth (who plays Big in Sex And The City) and real-life instructor Jess King (who played Allegra in the episode), the advert shows the pair together on the couch, drinking wine.
“To new beginnings,” he toasts the trainer, who adds: “You look great.”
“I feel great,” Big says, before pointing to the corner with his eyes and asking the woman: “Do you want to take another ride? Life’s too short not too.”
Ryan Reynolds lends his voice to the ad, which was released on social media last night, with a disclaimer that nods to Big’s fictional fate on the show.

“And just like that... the world was reminded that regular cycling stimulates and improves your heart, lungs and circulation, thus reducing your risk for cardiovascular diseases.
“Cycling strengthens your heart muscles, lowers your pulse and reduces blood fat levels,” he said, before simply adding: “He’s alive.”
Many viewers joked how “Peloton released an ad faster than Carrie bothered to dial 911.”, after fury among fans – including Jonah Hill – spilt out on social media on Thursday (December 9).
“Cherry on top would have been if he was with Samantha,” another added, after the show finally explained she had moved to London for a new job.
Here’s some of the other reaction:
What a comeback hahahaha damn. Give the person/team who conceptualized this a RAISE

Peloton was faster with a response than Carrie was with dialing 911.

This is hilarious! Props for Peloton’s creativity. I don’t understand what all the hysteria is over a fictional character’s death. The bike didn’t kill him. The guy had a bad heart to begin with.

I’m guessing Chris got paid a $hitload of money to do this.

Today Peloton introduced the concept of Schrödinger’s Big, a character who may be considered simultaneously both alive and dead as a result of his fate being linked to opposing corporate interests

So Ryan Reynolds did a parody/response ad to the famous “Peloton wife” ad for his own gin brand and now Peloton hires him to do a parody/response ad to someone else… clearly, the only constant in this life is Ryan Reynolds. https://t.co/A786URDBP4

The lengths a man will go to, to avoid having to dump his partner and be "the bad guy" when he wants out.

I love this. Especially if it really was a rushed job to an unpredicted hit to their share price (of course, a paid product placement should have probably read the script 😂).

It's well done.
The cast was spotted filming a funeral scene earlier in the year, but much to people’s theories and conclusions, the service wasn’t for Kim Cattrall’s iconic on-screen character, Samantha Jones.
Instead, Big suffered a cardiac arrest following an intense workout on his Peloton bike. Throughout the episode, Big often referred to his favourite Peloton instructor, Allegra, and his thousandth ride using the exercise bike.
While Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) attended a piano recital for Charlotte’s daughter, Big headed to his post-shower workout, where he clutched his shoulder and collapsed.
And just like that... he’s alive.
