Britain is set to experience a prolonged period of wintry weather, with forecasts indicating up to 144 hours of near-continuous snowfall across large swathes of the country. Weather maps from WXCharts suggest that at least one area of the UK will be covered in snow or experiencing snowfall between 6 am on March 1 and 6 am on March 7.
The heaviest snowfall appears to be concentrated in Scotland, with nearly the entire region affected, except for the eastern city of Aberdeen, which seems set to avoid the worst of the conditions. Northern Ireland is also predicted to see snowfall at various points during this extended cold spell. Meanwhile, most of Wales is expected to be blanketed in wintry precipitation as well.

Across England, maps indicate that snowfall will peak in the northern regions, including Yorkshire, the North West, and the North East. The West Midlands and East Midlands will also experience widespread snow, with areas stretching north of London included in the forecast. However, East Anglia, parts of Lincolnshire, and the southernmost parts of England are expected to escape the snowy conditions, according to Daily Express.
Cities and towns set to experience wintry weather include Gloucester, Milton Keynes, Oxford, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Birmingham, Derby, Leicester, Nottingham, Stoke-on-Trent, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, Chester, York, Leeds, Sunderland, Newcastle, and Durham.
The Met Office has provided insight into the weather patterns expected in the coming weeks. In its long-range forecast for February 24 to March 5, the agency states: “The start of this period will see residual rain clearing from the south and far north of the UK, with cooler, fresher, showery conditions becoming established across the UK.
“Winds will also ease. The rest of next week and into early March is rather uncertain though. “It is possible that further spells of mild, wet and windy weather affect the UK, interspersed with colder, showery conditions with a risk of some snow in the north, but there is also a chance that drier, more settled conditions develop at times, especially towards the south or southeast of the UK.

“Temperatures are likely to be close to or a little above average overall, although with a risk of overnight frost in between frontal systems or in association with any drier spells.” With unpredictable conditions ahead, residents are advised to stay updated on local forecasts and prepare for potential travel disruptions due to wintry weather.
