A dramatic rescue unfolded in Hillsborough County as a 14-year-old boy was found clinging to a piece of fence, desperately seeking help from a passing rescue crew. Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister described the harrowing scene, likening it to a moment from the movie 'Castaway' as the boy held on for dear life.
The boy's mother had successfully evacuated the family to safety, but the boy, unaware of the rising water levels, attempted to walk home. This decision led to a perilous situation that required the swift action of the rescue team.
Sheriff Chronister, who was personally involved in the rescue aboard an airboat, recounted the emotional moment when they reached the boy. The teenager was visibly shaken but expressed immense gratitude as he was brought to dry land.
