Another group of 13 Thais returned home from Ukraine on Tuesday morning, on a Thai Airways International flight from Switzerland.

They arrived on flight TG971, which landed at Suvarnabhumi airport at 6.50am.

They were greeted on arrival by Chatchai Viriyavejakul, director-general of the Foreign Ministry's Consular Affairs Department, Naruchai Ninnad, director of the Protection of Thai Nationals Abroad Division, and Kittipong Kittikachorn, director of Suvannabhumi airport.

The returnees expressed their delight at being brought safely home.

Suparat Boonsuk, from Udon Thani, said she fled from Ukraine with Thai friends to neighbouring Romania and then by air to Switzerland, where they boarded the  flight to Thailand.

She had been working in Ukraine and would like to return there when the situation returns to normal.

From the airport, the returnees were taken by bus, arranged by the Land Transport Department, to Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute in Nonthaburi for a Covid test.

If the test is negative, they will be allowed to proceed to their home provinces.
