Many of us are guilty for keeping a lot of these foods and drinks in the fridge even though we shouldn’t.
While the fridge can keep many things fresh, it can also be wrong to keep certain foods in there.
For safety and quality reasons, these are the foods you should stick in the cupboard instead.

Butter
Since butter is a dairy product, it's easy to see why most people think it needs to be kept cold. But it turns out, butter can be stored safely outside the fridge in an airtight container.

Tomatoes
Tomatoes last longer if they’re stored in a cool, dry place at room temperature, where they'll maintain their moisture.

Hot sauce
According to Frank's RedHot , you should check the label of your hot sauce to see if you can get away with keeping it in your cabinet.

Bananas
Bananas should be stored at room temperature with plastic wrap around the stems if you want to keep them fresh. The plastic wrap will stop them from releasing ethylene gas, which speeds up the ripening process.

Ketchup
The acidity in ketchup means that you can keep it out of the fridge, and it'll stay fresh for about a month.

Bread
Freezing your bread and then toasting it is fine but putting it in the fridge makes it go stale.

Citrus fruit
Lemons, limes, oranges, and grapefruits are best preserved in a countertop fruit basket instead. Put them in a cool, dark place if you want them to last longer.

Chocolate
It tends to have maximum flavour at room temperature and should be stored somewhere dark and dry.

The chocolate-hazelnut spread seizes up and makes for a less enjoyable and spreadable experience if put in the fridge.

Jam
Providing jam is properly sealed inside a sterilised jar, it can be stored outside the fridge for up to two years. But once it’s open it should be kept inside the fridge to prevent mould growing.

Champagne
The fluctuating temperature of the fridge door opening and closing will wreak havoc on it. Champagne is best stored on its side, away from light, in a room with a consistent temperature.

Peppers
Bell peppers stop ripening once they're placed in the fridge. So store in a cool, well-ventilated place, like your kitchen counter.

Cucumbers
Storing cucumbers in the fridge will make them watery and pitted. If you do choose to refrigerate them, it's best to wrap them up in plastic to minimise the moisture.
