NYPD newyork police department

A 12-year-old girl is currently recovering after sustaining a gunshot wound to her left arm during a disturbing incident in Queens, New York City. The New York Police Department has reported that the incident occurred on 160th Street just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to authorities, a group of 10 children were engaged in a physical altercation on the sidewalk when two unidentified individuals approached them and began firing shots. The young girl who was shot in the arm was promptly transported to a children's hospital and is currently in stable condition.

Additionally, two other individuals were injured during the altercation. An 18-year-old female suffered a head laceration, while a 25-year-old woman sustained a stab wound to the chest. Both victims sought medical attention at nearby hospitals.

Police have confirmed that all three injured individuals were participants in the initial altercation. The nature of the relationship between the suspects and the children involved in the fight remains unclear at this time.

Law enforcement officials are actively investigating the incident to determine whether one or both of the perpetrators discharged firearms at the group. No weapons were recovered from the scene, and as of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

This distressing event serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by communities in addressing violence and ensuring the safety of residents, particularly young individuals. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
