12 of Scotland's most dangerous 'blackspot' roads causing horror traffic accidents

New data has revealed the most dangerous roads in Scotland - with four of them located in Edinburgh.

The Dangerous Roads 2021 report from Ageas Insurance and the Road Safety Foundation has mapped out the road risk level across Scotland.

The interactive map was gathered from the Department for Transport (DfT)'s information on crash and traffic data.

Ranging from black (highest risk) and red (high risk) and green (low risk), the interactive map points out the most dangerous roads in Scotland.

It estimates more than 2,000 fatal crashes and serious injuries in Scotland.

According to the map, there are four very high risk roads and eight high risk roads, the second highest level.

The most dangerous 'black' roads in Scotland are:

The 'Dangerous Roads 2021' report showed a cluster of risky roads in Edinburgh (Road Safety Foundation/Aegeas)

Founded in 1986, the Road Safety Foundation is a UK charity advocating for the reduction in road casualties.

The Road Safety Foundation and Aegeas Insurance are calling on the UK Government to invest £1.4bn on roads with the highest potential returns and to save thousands of lives.

Since 2012, Ageas Insurance has supported the Road Safety Foundation's "work of tracking the nation’s road safety performance, year on year, across thousands of individual road sections."
