A selection of the most iconic photos of rock stars, celebrities and personalities of the last decades by American photographer Mark Seliger are now on view at XXX 30 Years Of Portraits, an exhibition opening in Paris on September 25.
Over more than 30 years behind the camera, Seliger has produced unforgettable images of contemporary figures from the Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, the Rolling Stones and former president Barak Obama to a long list of Hollywood A-list personalities including Nicole Kidman, Al Pacino, Tom Hanks and many others.
The exhibition at the A.Galerie in Paris is a 30-year retrospective showcasing some of the most celebrated portraits by Seliger, who was the chief photographer for Rolling Stone magazine for a decade and is a veteran of many publications, among them Vanity Fair, Elle, The New Yorker and GQ.
“If you have opened a magazine since 1990, you have seen Mr. Seliger’s work ,” writes the New York Times. “He is a Texas native who moved to New York City and became his own brand in short order, shooting stylish and tightly composed portraits and fashion images for Rolling Stone and then for a host of Condé Nast titles.”
The exhibition includes a number of the photos featured in his recently published book Mark Seliger Photographs.
“Seliger’s talent lies in exposing new aspects of overexposed personalities by rendering their inner shimmer,” observes Vanity Fair. “When a magazine needs to shoot Big Game, Seliger’s often the gun for hire.”
The exhibition closes on November 4th.
