It's no surprise everyone is looking at little closer at their pay checks at the moment. That combined with the pandemic means many people are on the hunt for a new job.

According to Principality, the average wage in Cardiff is now £27,707 and the below jobs are all advertised as having wages above that.

Footwear buyer

Love shoes? Here's the one for you. This job is permanent, full-time and offers a salary of £30,000 to £55,000. It is for someone with "exceptional flair and a true passion" for shoes. You need to have previously bought shoes for a major high street fashion retailer, and your role includes:

  • Creating buying plans for departments while ensuring profitability by maintaining and building customer focused category lines
  • Work with merchandising to develop range plans that maximise sales opportunities
  • Constantly review social media, catwalk and competitor set to identify new product opportunities

Electrician

Are you a qualified sparky? Taff Housing Association wants permanent staff who will be paid £31,211 a year. The location is in Cardiff. The ad reads: "Would you like to work for a dynamic and growing organisation? We would like to hear from 18th edition qualified Electricians who can diagnose faults and carry out repairs, capable of new installations and certifying their own work.

"This is an exciting job where work varies from minor repairs to full kitchen wiring upgrades. Customer First Ambassador for Transport for Wales

This is an 18-month fixed term job with rail company Transport for Wales. The role is to " work closely with the Customer First Manager to create a specialised framework and roll out a Customer First Programme."

The description says: "Alongside the Customer First Manager, you will work together to create the behaviours, benchmark as appropriate and deliver behavioural change sessions for all Stations Leadership and front-line colleagues through training sessions and individual coaching." It will mean travelling around the rail network to introduce the programme station by station. They are looking for someone who is a "forward planner" and "team player" and someone who has previously worked in a forward facing or retail role. See more here.

Welsh jeweller Clogau is looking for a store manager to work in its Cardiff and Bridgend stores. The salary is £28,000. You also get an annual 10% company bonus paid quarterly based on company profits achieved, employee discount, pension contributions, development opportunities, team building events. Leekes is looking for a sales consultant for its furniture department expected to deliver a "positive shopping experience to our customers". The job description says: "You’ll be knowledgeable across all furniture areas including upholstery, cabinet and beds."     A second clerk role, with a salary of £42,669 to £51,137 is available in the Welsh Parliament. The vacancy is in the Equality and Social Justice Committee which looks at policy, legislative proposals and performs financial scrutiny on areas within its remit. The remit includes equality and human rights, fair work, community cohesion and safety, tackling poverty, and implementation of the Well-being of Future Generations Act 2015. You will work within a team led by a Clerk, who provides strategic oversight and procedural expertise and you will be assisted by other support staff, and will have line management responsibilities.

    The posts require the capacity to work as a member of a team, the ability to produce information which is clear and accurate and to offer sound, unbiased advice both in writing and orally. The post holder will need to demonstrate sound judgement, and win the trust and confidence of committee chairs and Senedd Members and to manage relationships with all those involved in the work of Committees, both internal and external to Senedd Cymru.
