£113m star's Cristiano Ronaldo verdict may hand Man Utd advantage over Arsenal in transfer race

Arsenal will be looking to strengthen their forward line in the summer transfer window.

With Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah seemingly set to follow Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang through the exit door in the summer, there's likely to be enough space for at least two new strikers at the Emirates Stadium.

Plenty of names have been uttered, but one link to emerge in recent days is Atletico Madrid's Joao Felix.

As he is under the age of 25, Felix fits the criteria of Mikel Arteta and Edu's ideal transfer strategy, and his talent is unquestionable.

Nevertheless, as he cost Atletico Madrid €126 million (£113million) in 2019, the La Liga side aren't going to let him leave cheaply, and thus, it's a surprise that reports have surfaced.

As per Miguel Delaney, as cited by The Boot Room, Felix has already been 'offered' to Arsenal.

However, it’s suggested that Arsenal are not quite as hot on Felix as some might expect, and a move may not materialise as a result of that lack of interest.

Even so, if the Gunners do change their mind about the prospect, they could face a further challenge from Manchester United, primarily as a result of Felix's desire to play alongside Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo for both club and country.

As cited by Bleacher Report back in 2019, the 22-year-old admitted that he would love for that to happen,

"You never know, but playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at club level, as well as with the national team, is something which definitely does appeal," he said.

"I'd love to play alongside Cristiano at a club, he's a legend."

Ironically, Felix scored a sublime header against Ronaldo's United in the two side's 1-1 draw in the Champions League during the week and the goal certainly reminded suitors what he is capable of.

Although he's still got plenty of room for improvement, the Portugal international would improve both Arsenal and United as they continue their respective quests to return to their former glory.
