The Dow's 10-straight day rally keeps making history — it hasn't done this since 2017. And investors can thank a select group of stocks for most of the gains.
Eleven stocks in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, including Goldman Sachs, UnitedHealth Group and Salesforce.com, are up 5% or more over the past 10 trading days, says an Investor's Business Daily analysis of data from S&P Global Market Intelligence and MarketSmith. The Dow itself is up 4.4% over the period. Interestingly, neither of the megacap tech stocks, Apple and Microsoft, are the top contributors.
It's an impressive rally. The Dow hasn't risen 10-straight days since August 7, 2017, says Dow Jones. And the 1492.81 point gain, or 4.4%, is the biggest 10-day point gain since Nov. 23, 2022 and largest 10-day percent gain since April 5, 2023.

But the Dow, unlike other popular market measures like the S&P 500, uses a dollar weighted methodology. With this methodology, stocks with the highest per-share prices hold the most sway in the index.
And looking at the 10-day rally this way, five stocks accounted for 100 Dow points or more of the measure's roughly 1,600-point gain in that time. UnitedHealth is the top contributor, single-handedly adding 300 Dow points. That's followed by Goldman, which itself added 244 Dow Jones.
