What’s new: Eleven people have been killed in a fire that trapped workers on the third floor of a wooden door factory in a county in East China’s Zhejiang province, local authorities said Tuesday.
The blaze broke out just after 2 p.m. Monday at the Fenghuangshan industrial park, according to a statement issued by the government of Wuyi county.
The death toll was confirmed around 4 a.m. Tuesday, after two rounds of searches, according to the state-run Xinhua News Agency.
Police have held those alleged to be responsible for the incident, the statement said, adding that the provincial government has set up a team to investigate the cause of the fire.
What’s more: An initial investigation determined the cause of the fire was related to the wood doors, paint, packaging and other materials located on site, state broadcaster CCTV reported.
In the wake of the fire, the county government launched a round of inspections to eliminate safety hazards at factories and construction sites, according to the Tuesday statement.
