While we may have never considered it, frogs do make exceptional material for tattoo designs. There are over 4,800 different species of them, all with unique colors and patterns. This means that any person could find the one that reflects their personality. Not to mention that they aren’t as mainstream as, let’s say, skulls, dragons, birds, or flowers and even symbolize good luck and fortune in some cultures.
Haven’t convinced you yet? Well, the list you’re about to embark on might. Thanks to our team at Bored Panda, it’s full of the most adorable frog tattoo designs that might melt your heart into a puddle. Scroll down to find them, and be sure to upvote the ones you wouldn’t mind getting inked on your skin!
While you’re at it, don’t forget to check out a conversation with tattoo artists Alyssa Brooke and Suzi Hamilton, who kindly agreed to answer a few questions on frog tattoo designs.

In her 7 years of inking people, tattoo artist Alyssa Brooke has done countless frog tattoos. Over time, she noticed that her clients were coming to her with the best ideas.
“Fun hats, frogs that look like characters from their favorite shows, whimsical frogs and spooky frogs, you name it. I created Build Your Own Frog to streamline the process and make it easy for my clients to tell me exactly what they want, at a more accessible price!”

The flat rate for building your own frog tattoo is $160, and people get to customize it however they want. To register, all clients have to do is fill out a Build Your Own Frog form, where Brooke lists a few questions to get a better idea of their vision.
The questions range from what expression they would like their froggy friend to have (happy, grumpy, or silly), what clothes, if any, they should wear, and whether they would like the hopper to interact with anyone. The form also has a few other features that allow clients to describe their ideas as accurately as possible.

A fellow tattoo artist and frog enthusiast, Suzi Hamilton, also has an impressive portfolio of frog tattoo designs. Some of them can even be found on this list!
She told us that such ink designs have become quite common recently. “For me personally, it's not unusual to tattoo frogs every week, I am in fact tattooing one tomorrow! The whole 'cottagecore' mushroom and frog vibe is really popular just now.”

Brooke tells us that since frogs exploded in popular culture, they’ve brought a lot of joy to her and other people. “They’ve become sort of an icon, and there are so many nuances to them. Different species, expressions, poses, and fun outfits to put them in.”
Her absolute favorite part of tattooing these squishy creatures onto skin is when her clients give names to them, “like they’ve made a new forever friend!”

Meanwhile, Hamilton says, "I love so many things about tattooing frogs! They're so easy to personalize with little outfits, etc., but I also love their little round toes, and there's something satisfying about tattooing the white at the end to make them look extra shiny. There are so many lovely variations of coloring in frogs too, which makes for great tattoos!"

We were also curious to know how the tattoo artists help clients customize a frog tattoo to reflect their personality. “Often, clients will tell me exactly what they want, but I also have a “surprise me” option! That gives me the opportunity to choose what I think will suit their frog best, or to play around with some new ideas I haven’t tattooed before. I always collaborate with my clients to make sure their frog feels just right for them," Brooke tells us.

"I'm incredibly lucky that a lot of my clients come to me with cute ideas and trust me to come up with my own take on it," shares Hamilton.
"I recently did a frog dressed for a birthday party with his little tiny frog cake for a client to mark her son's 1st birthday, I just love that people trust me with ideas that are important to them to be on them forever! Frogs can be personalised in so many ways, a little flower for a cute vibe, a little mushroom for a cottage core vibe or a wizard hat for a witchy Halloween vibe!"

While Brooke admits that it’s hard to go wrong with a frog tattoo, she recommends making sure to research the artist beforehand. “See what their linework looks like, how they shade, and ensure they have good health and safety practices. The key to a good frog is to make sure their eyes are right, but even if your frog ends up accidentally cross-eyed, I’m sure it’ll still be very cute. It’s a frog!”

Whereas Hamilton advises thinking through the size of the tattoo, to make sure that it's big enough to match the level of detail. "For frogs, they've got lots of toes and a very particular pupil shape, so I'd say it's definitely important to get these tattooed big enough so it still looks great in years to come! There has to be some expectation of the ink spreading under the skin as the tattoo ages, and you don't want those little toes to get lost in a few years time!"
