A five-star luxury property, the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel sits in the centre of King’s Cross, and at the heart of all the hustle and bustle. It’s an area that's undergone major regeneration in recent years, it's not only known as a major rail hub (King’s Cross station and Eurostar services from St. Pancras is a mere stone's throw away), it's now bringing together luxury lifestyle brands, bars, and eateries thanks to the Coal Drops Yard complex, and it’s attracting the tech giants too, cue the Facebook office.
Chanelling the opulence of rail's golden age, the hotel is housed within a neo Gothic façade that was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott for the Midland Grand Hotel in 1873, and inside, the High Victorian Gothic aesthetic is continued.
Expect nods in the form of the Gothic Revival metalwork, gold leaf ceilings, hand-stencilled wall designs, and the famous grand staircase that exudes the glamour of the Victorian era. Featuring 245-rooms, the hotel offers 38 Chambers Suites which balance contemporary luxury with Victorian grandeur. This follows through to the 207 guestrooms that are located in the Barlow House extension of the hotel, and here's there is a choice of King and Twin rooms, along with interconnecting family rooms.
When it comes to F&B, offerings include The Hansom cocktail bar, and the hotel is also home to London’s hottest place to dine — the recently renovated Booking Office 1869. For further relaxation, head to the hidden spa that's tucked away from the hustle and bustle, that comes complete with saunas, hydro loungers, a therapeutic steam room, and a 24 hour gym.
General Manager, Ed White of St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel shares more about this luxury, heritage hotel.
The history of the hotel: We are incredibly fortunate to be custodians of such an iconic establishment. The hotel began welcoming its first guests in May 1873 and was awarded a Grade 1 listing in 1967. In 2011 we opened our doors as St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London and we are proud to continue the legacy of welcoming the great the good, the glittering and the glamorous!
The grand staircase: The architectural icon is our signature staircase — the third floor of the staircase is actually my favourite spot in the hotel! Over the past century, the double staircase, originally designed to allow ladies to pass each other in their wide ballgowns, has played centre stage to esteemed guests, from Victorian royalty to Brit-pop royalty, The Spice Girls. The Staircase is still in high demand for wedding ceremonies, private dinners and events- no matter the reason for visiting, each individual guest is always in awe of the unique design of the staircase, which is arguably the very soul of the building.
The Hansom Bar & Lounge: The Hansom Bar is home to the original black cab drop off point for the station. The space was reimagined in 2019 and boasts neo-Gothic architecture with marble tables and a contemporary bar. The Hansom remains to be a central meeting point for guests and travellers alike and my favourite place for a nightcap.
Booking Office 1869: The original station’s ticketing office is now Booking Office 1869, a glamorous bar and restaurant. A reimagining of the original, 19th century St. Pancras ticket hall, the venue includes eight, 8-metre tall palm trees, three pendant lights made up of 267 brass leaves each, along with a 22-metre long bar and eccentric feature fabrics. With St. Pancras International Station serving as a passport between London and the rest of Europe, the bar and restaurant is an exciting new drinking and dining destination to explore.
Victorian Chambers Suites: We possess 38 Chamber Suites which encapsulate traditional Victorian grandeur and refined British luxury. Some of our suites overlook the station and guests can watch trains departing the building from the comfort of their own bed. All suite guests can also enjoy private access to the Chambers Club which serves a selection of complimentary refreshments throughout the day.
Seat to suite transfer: St. Pancras Renaissance offers a special ‘Seat to Suite’ Eurostar VIP transfer service. Chambers Suite guests can enjoy a complimentary transfer of their luggage with from the Chambers Club, through fast track security, to their carriage. Guests have the opportunity to relax in the Chambers Club until 30 minutes before their train is due to depart, before being accompanied through security by a member of Guest Services. The service is also available for guests arriving into St. Pancras by Eurostar.
The local neighbourhood: St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel is perfectly positioned next to the station and central to the King’s Cross neighbourhood. In 2018 we welcomed Coal Drops Yard which is a shopping destination and foodie hotspot located right on our doorstep- it is perfect for exploring hidden gems, innovative technology and the urban side of London.
The Royal Suite: Our Royal Suite is often considered as the crown jewels of suites. The spacious three bedroom residential suite includes a practical kitchen, table which can seat up to 22 guests for private dinner parties and comes complete with floor to ceiling windows, and opulent furnishing- the perfect setting for a royal stay experience.
St. Pancras Spa: The luxurious St. Pancras Spa is hidden away in the hotel’s original steam kitchen and provides a tranquil escape from the city bustle. Inspired by rituals and journeys from around the world including an English Garden through to Africa, the spa journey aims to restore harmony and wellbeing for guests and spa visits alike.
A hotel of firsts: To this day, our guests marvel at Sir George Gilbert Scott’s historic masterpiece, including areas of particular historical importance that have been carefully renovated. These include the ‘Ladies Smoking Room’ which was the first place in Europe where women could smoke publicly. Although smoking inside is no longer permitted visitors can still host private events in the space for special occasions.
