10 homes for sale on London's most romantic roads, from South Kensington to South Woodford

Love is in the air today, and so too a handful of London street names – including a quartet of ‘Love Lane’s in the City, Pinner, Mitcham and Morden.

Last week Royal Mail found more than a thousand of us are living on streets with romantic connotations.

A comb through its database unearthed 856 street names in the UK that include the word ‘Rose’, while ‘Love’ features in 143 and ‘Valentine’ in 75.

London has the most romantic street names of the areas surveyed (though also the most roads) with 45 that Royal Mail deemed suitably amorous.

While such names no guarantee of local harmony – signs on Tottenham’s La Rose Lane were vandalised two years following the council’s change from historic Black Boy Lane – reports over the years suggests that there could be some correlation between house prices and typically ‘pleasant’ monikers.

God forbid you live on Ham’s Melancholy Lane or Eltham’s Bleak Hill Lane.

In the spirit of schmaltz, we’ve found ten homes for sale on London’s most romantic roads, from Southwark’s Valentine Place to Whitechapel’s Darling Row.
