If you grew up in Scotland, nothing will transport you back in time quite like seeing a television advert that you saw as a child.
It's no secret that we have produced some truly iconic commercials over the years, with brands such as Irn-Bru, McEwan's Lager, and Scott's Porridge Oats all leaving a mark with touching, hilarious, or simply downright iconic clips.
We have therefore decided to take a trip in time and look back at some of the most legendary Scottish adverts of all time. Watching these clips will no doubt stir strong feelings of nostalgia in a lot of viewers.
Even if you didn't grow up with any of these commercials, it's still interesting to get a small glimpse into what life in Scotland was like decades ago.

Irn-Bru — Made in Scotland from Girders
Irn-Bru has released some legendary commercials over the years, from the hilarious granny on a mobility scooter to its iconic Snowman Christmas ad. Few are as instantly recognisable as this classic catchy 80s jingle, though, which riffs on the cheesy American advertising of the time.
Hamlet Cigars — Photobooth
This 1989 commercial, which was voted Ad Of The Century, is still remembered to this day — and for good reason. Starring legendary Scots comedian Gregor Fisher, the side-splitting clip sees him star as the Baldy Man, who is unable to get a good shot in a photo booth.
Knorr stock cubes — Pea and ham
If you grew up in the 70s or 80s, you will no doubt have fond memories of this ad, which shows a man surprised by the fact that his wife's 'chicken soup' is actually pea soup made with a ham stock cube. "Pea and ham...from a chicken?" will long live on as an iconic quote.
McEwan's Lager — Alive and Kicking
It doesn't get much more 80s than this brilliant McEwan's advert, inspired by the work of Dutch artist M. C. Escher as well as George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four. At the time, the high production values blew audiences away, and it's no surprise that it is still fondly remembered to this day.
Scottish Amicable — Own Goal
If you grew up watching You've Been Framed, you will no doubt have loved this classic ad showing some home movie fails. The highlight comes at the end, though, when a footballer scores a hilarious own goal.
Scott's Porridge Oats — Vent
This slightly racy ad stars Rory McCann — better known today as the Hound from Game of Thrones — as a hunky Scot who has his kilt blown upward by a vent as two women walk past in an obvious reference to the iconic Marilyn Monroe photograph. A similar commercial sees him emerge from an icy loch almost completely naked.
Ford — Capri Mark2
Dunbartonshire-born Jackie Stewart is one of the most legendary Formula One drivers in history, a fact that Ford took full advantage of in this 1970s ad. The retro clip sees him and his wife Helen McGregor praising features of the car such as its "rear door" and "reclining seats".
Baxters Soup — Ena Baxter
Baxters is undoubtedly one of the most iconic Scots brands out there, so we couldn't not include one of their ads on this list. This simple and charming clip stars Ena Baxter herself, who joined the company in 1952 and sadly passed away in 2015 aged 90.
William Lawson's — Rugby
This hysterical 2001 clip for William Lawson's whisky shows a Scotland VS New Zealand rugby match. The black-and-white ad sees the New Zealand team try to intimidate the Scots with the famous haka war dance, before the latter simply lift up their kilts.
Tennent's Lager — Caledonia
If you ask any Scot to name the most iconic ads of all time, this classic and nostalgic clip will undoubtedly be mentioned. Set to the tune of 'Caledonia' by Dougie MacLean, it depicts a man fed up with London life before returning home to Scotland to have a pint with his mates.
