This past weekend was filled with exciting women's football matches across Europe, providing plenty of thrills and drama for fans. The games featured intriguing matchups and impactful results that had implications at both ends of the league tables.

One notable clash was between West Ham United and Arsenal. While the Hammers had always struggled against their cross-town rivals, they put up a spirited fight this time. Under the guidance of former manager Matt Beard, West Ham adopted a defensive approach, frustrating Arsenal's predictable attack. Despite conceding an early goal, they bounced back with a penalty and a stunning volley to secure a groundbreaking 2-1 victory. The impressive performance showcased West Ham's solid defensive and midfield efforts, led by player of the match Honoka Hayashi and Katrina Gorry.

Another team that impressed over the weekend was Manchester City. After a disappointing fourth-place finish last season, they have been on fire this year. With an attacking trio consisting of Lauren Hemp, Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw, and Chloe Kelly, City has been a dominant force. Although they had a tough match against Leicester City, City found a way to secure a crucial 2-0 win. Hemp's improvised overhead kick and Kelly's Olímpico sealed the victory, further solidifying their title credentials.

Meanwhile, Everton, despite dealing with numerous injuries, showcased their resilience once again. They faced a tough challenge against league leaders Chelsea and, as expected, took a defensive approach. Everton held strong for a significant portion of the match, even with a controversial penalty against them. However, Chelsea eventually broke through and secured a 3-0 win. Despite the loss, Everton's fighting spirit and defensive prowess were on display.

In the Women's Super League, Brighton & Hove Albion made a surprising managerial change. Melissa Phillips was dismissed following a recent news conference, leaving many observers surprised. While Brighton's results haven't been exceptional this season, the team had undergone significant changes in the summer, with several new players joining the squad. Time might have been necessary for the team to gel, but Brighton acted swiftly. They now find themselves in a relegation battle and urgently need a new manager to help them avoid the drop.

Over in the Bundesliga, Aston Villa faced Bristol City desperately needing a win to turn their season around. Villa started strong, taking an early lead. However, Bristol City fought back and equalized twice, resulting in a 2-2 draw. While Villa showed determination, they missed opportunities to secure all three points. Bristol City exhibited defensive strength, with defenders Naomi Layzell and Brooke Aspin receiving praise for their performances.

In Spain, Real Madrid dominated their match against Valencia. With a clinical display of finishing, Real cruised to a resounding 7-1 victory. Valencia struggled to contain their opponents, with the home side's attacks proving relentless. Real Madrid's attacking prowess was on full display, with multiple players getting on the scoresheet.

In Serie A, Bayer Leverkusen continued their trend of causing upsets against top teams. They held title-chasing Wolfsburg to a 1-1 draw, capitalizing on defensive mistakes from the visitors. Leverkusen's resilience and ability to take advantage of opportunities secured them a valuable point.

In France, Paris Saint-Germain faced fatigue after a congested fixture schedule. Playing their seventh match in 20 days, PSG could only manage a 1-1 draw against Fleury. With defending champions Lyon extending their lead at the top, PSG is finding it difficult to keep up the pace in the title race.

In the Italian Serie A, Roma bounced back from their Champions League disappointment with a convincing 3-1 win over Juventus. Roma took control of the match early on and managed to secure a comfortable lead. Although Juventus pulled one back in stoppage time, it was too little, too late. Roma's strong performance reestablished their position at the top of the table.

Finally, both Milanese teams, AC Milan and Internazionale, had mixed results in Serie A. Milan managed a 2-2 draw against Fiorentina, with Andrea Stašková scoring a crucial goal. Meanwhile, Inter suffered a 3-2 defeat against Como, further illustrating their struggles this season.

All in all, this weekend provided captivating women's football action across Europe, with teams showcasing their strengths, resilience, and occasional setbacks as they fight for success in their respective leagues.
