For a time this season, it did not look like the 2023 Kansas City Chiefs would play like one of the greatest teams in NFL history. After a dominant playoff run culminating in an overtime win in Super Bowl 58, there is no other logical conclusion. That is, at least according to one statistic.
Per long-time NFL writer Aaron Schatz’s wholesale DVOA efficiency metric, the Chiefs officially faced what might be the toughest road ever. With wins over the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, and now San Francisco 49ers, the Chiefs finished with the lowest estimated DVOA odds ever and still came out as the last NFL team standing.
It’s frankly a little unbelievable.

Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, and Travis Kelce are inevitable.
