There were 17 more Covid-19 fatalities and 1,814 new cases admitted to hospitals on Sunday, the Ministry of Public Health reported on Monday.
This compared with 18 coronavirus-related fatalities and 2,028 cases admitted to hospitals on Saturday, as reported on Sunday.
As of midnight Sunday, a total of 22,735 people were receiving Covid-19 treatment (down from 23,299 the previous day), including 10,974 in hospitals (up from 10,691). Of the remainder, 684 were in field hospitals/hospitel facilities (down from 951) and 11,053 in home/community isolation (down from 11,617).
Of those in hospital, 794 were seriously ill with lung inflammation (up from 785) and 369 dependent on ventilators (up from 352).
The 24-hour period also saw 2,361 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering.
Of the 1,814 new cases admitted to hospitals over the 24 hours, there were 1,813 cases in the general population and one imported case.
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 4,560,843 Covid-19 cases, including 2,337,408 this year, with 4,507,095 complete recoveries to date.
The accumulated death toll stood at 31,013 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 9,315 so far this year.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 530,140 in 24 hours to 567.82 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 628 to 6.39 million.
The United States had the most cases at 91.27 million, up 24,757, and the most deaths at 1.05 million, up 21.
