There were 29 more Covid-19 deaths and 1,631 new cases admitted to hospitals on Friday, the Ministry of Public Health reported on Saturday.
This compared with 1,749 patients and 28 coronavirus-related fatalities reported on Friday.
As of midnight Friday, a total of 18,117 people were receiving Covid treatment (down from 18,182 the previous day), including 9,357 in hospitals (down from 9,559). Of the remainder, 182 were in field hospitals/hospitel facilities (down from 202) and 8,474 in home/community isolation (up from 8,321) and 104 others were not specified.
Of those in hospitals, 763 were seriously ill patients with lung inflammation (down from 766) and 375 were dependent on ventilators (down from 377).
The 24-hour period also saw 1,667 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering.
Of the 1,631 new cases over the 24 hours, there were 1,626 cases in the general population and five among prison inmates. There were no imported cases.
From Aug 14 to 20, 204,250 people tested positive for Covid-19 via antigen tests. That pointed to 29,178 new Covid-19 cases daily on average over the seven-day period.
Since the coronavirus pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 4,644,643 Covid-19 cases, including 2,421,208 cases this year, with 4,594,331 complete recoveries to date.
The accumulated death toll stood at 32,195 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 10,497 so far this year.
The highest number of Covid-related fatalities in a 24-hour period was 312 recorded on Aug 13, 2021. The highest number of cases was 28,379 on April 1, 2022.
