The US Capitol Sergeant at Arms has announced that the upcoming presidential inauguration will be moved inside due to inclement weather conditions. This decision, while ensuring the safety and comfort of attendees, unfortunately means that the majority of ticketed guests will not be able to witness the ceremonies in person.
According to the Sergeant at Arms, the revised plan will only accommodate guests with Platform, Upper West Terrace, and possibly Section 3 tickets. Some of these guests will be seated in Emancipation Hall to witness the historic event.
The inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump was initially expected to draw hundreds of thousands of ticketed guests, along with approximately 25,000 law enforcement and military personnel. However, the change in venue has necessitated adjustments to the event logistics.
In response to the relocation, President-elect Trump took to social media to announce that his inauguration address will now be delivered in the Capitol Rotunda. Additionally, the presidential parade, originally planned for the streets of Washington, will now be hosted in the Capital One Arena to accommodate the altered schedule.
