Fourmaux is set to begin a second attempt as a full-time Rally1 driver this season - starting in Monte Carlo this weekend - with the Frenchman drafted in to lead the Ford team following Ott Tanak’s departure to Hyundai.

This weekend will see the WRC debut its new points-scoring structure, ratified by the FIA, which is designed to spice up rallies and in particular the action on Sundays.  

The Ford squad closed in on a second WRC win of the season with Tanak ending Saturday with a 58.3s lead over Hyundai’s Teemu Suninen ahead of Sunday’s final four stages.

The 2019 world champion this year rejoined the Ford squad that afforded him his full-time WRC debut in 2012, essentially on a one-year deal.

Tanak has largely dominated the times to claim six of the event’s eight stages to date, winning five of Friday’s seven tests including a clean sweep of the morning loop.

The Ford squad has been absent from the WRC podium since Ott Tanak finished second in Croatia back in April, a result which was then followed by the Estonian finishing fourth in Portugal before an electrical fault robbed him of a top 10 result in Sardinia. 

M-Sport boss Richard Millener hopes Ford's partnership with the Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team from 2026 will strengthen and help grow the World Rally Championship squad.

The United Kingdom risks “losing its rally history” if plans to bring the World Rally Championship back to the region fail again, according to M-Sport team principal Richard Millener.

Sebastien Loeb and Gus Greensmith have missed out on an M-Sport seat for Monte Carlo with World Rally Championship privateer Jourdan Serderidis confirmed to pilot the third Ford Puma.
