New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly 'decides management structure' with Bruce Buck kept on

Todd Boehly is reportedly set to keep Bruce Buck as chairman of Chelsea as part of the club's new management structure proposed by the American businessman.

According to The Times, Buck is expected to stay at the Blues after previously working under Roman Abramovich before the latter was sanctioned by the UK government. The West London club are in a race against time to complete the proposed takeover led by Boehly's consortium before the June 8 deadline.

Abramovich put the club up for sale on March 2, citing the attention on the club following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. A large-scale search for a new owner has been narrowed down to one choice by the Raine Group, the bank which has been handling the multi-billion pound transaction.

The Premier League has carried out background checks on Boehly's consortium, which includes funding from Clearlake Capital, Jonathan Goldstein and Hansjorg Wyss. Despite the fact that the sale will amount to £4billion, there is confidence on all sides that a deal can be concluded quickly.

Although Boehly is set to make a number of changes at the top, it is understood that Jonathan Goldstein, who may have been considered as a replacement for Buck, will not be joining the board. His links to Tottenham have supposedly put the club off from appointing him.

He will supposedly be central to the Stamford Bridge redevelopment project instead. "This deal would not have happened without Jonathan," one insider told the Times.

This would see Buck stay on, giving the Blues some continuity after working alongside Abramovich during some of the clubs' best successes in recent years. The same goes for Chelsea director and chief transfer negotiator Marina Granovskaia, who is also expected to remain at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have won a number of major honours since Buck joined the club and he has overseen some of the greatest transfers in the club's history, including Eden Hazard, Didier Drogba and N'Golo Kante.

Both Buck and Granovskaia played central roles alongside the Raine Group, the US bank appointed by Abramovich to manage the sale of the club, in selecting the preferred bidder.
