A huge 'meteor' has been spotted in the sky over Scotland.
Residents from across the country have been left stunned as the suspected meteor appeared shortly after 9pm on Wednesday, September 14.
The UK Meteor Network received 35 public reports of the fireball as Scots began posting footage on social media.
In one CCTV clip taken in Linlithgow, West Lothian, the fireball could be seen hurling through the sky in the distance.
Stevie Doyle, who captured the clip, said: "We just witnessed something bright moving west through the sky which I guess must be something burning up in the earth’s atmosphere. Caught it on the security cameras."
The fireball was spotted in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Ayrshire, the Borders, Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire, as well as Ireland.
The UK Meteor Network tweeted: "So far we have received 35 public reports about a fireball spotted at 21:00 and a couple of our cameras caught it."
Shocked Scots took to social media after the fireball flew over their heads.

Another said: "Have i just seen a meteor fly over Johnstone??"
A third added: "Anyone else see a meteor burning up in the sky a few mins ago? Going south to north over the west coast of Scotland."
The fireball was later spotted over Northern Ireland as another tweeted: Anyone else spot the meteor over Kilmore/Wexford an hour or so ago? Either that or a giant curlew…"
